Mujeres In Marketing

Ashley Rivera Mercado

Our visionary founder hails from Yauco, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Orlando, Florida. Recognizing a gap for Latina creatives in the marketing and communications industry, she created Mujeres in Marketing (MiM) during her MBA journey at the University of Central Florida (UCF) after realizing there was no effective space to grow her career as a professional creative with cultura. Ashley brings her rich background in marketing, social media, and communications, fueled by an activist mindset to empower Latinas with career development and advancement opportunities. Through MiM, she is dedicated to unlocking maximum creative, financial, and professional potential for all Latinas in the marketing industry.

“My why for starting MiM came from the lack of space I saw for us – where I was constantly collaborating with Latina professionals, I didn’t see a place for that energy to live and grow centrally. I have always said that waiting for someone else to do something puts you at a disadvantage when they do it because you’ll feel some type of way thinking you could’ve done it better. So I decided to make my vision of a welcoming space for Latina professional creatives a reality, and MiM was born.

I’m very inspired by getting women fairly paid for their work. As someone who grew up watching women struggle because of their lack of options and autonomy due to financial issues caused by social inequality, I vowed to always work to be part of the solution. It is truly amazing what power is unlocked when you don’t operate from a scarcity mindset, so I want women like me to make what they’re worth (and more, plus tax) because the outcome is truly fantastic.”
